Breezy Summer Silhouettes
Featuring regenerative fabrics from Christy Dawn
Featuring regenerative fabrics from Christy Dawn
I hope your Friday is off to a beautiful start! As we make our way into the heat of the summer, we’re exploring breezy clothing options fit for carefree wear on the humid days ahead. All of the following pieces are from Christy Dawn, whose latest collection is called Farm to Closet where their pieces were regeneratively grown on 25 acres of land in Erode, India. Working directly with the farmers and artisans of Oshadi Collective, the once depleted land has been replenished through ancient practices of regeneration to produce a bounty of healthy cotton crops, and 310 tons of excess carbon were sequestered from the atmosphere.
Every time you purchase a piece, you’re supporting reciprocal, intentional relationships with farmers, ginners, spinners, weavers, Mother Earth and ourselves. Read more on this here.
The Scarlet Dress | Eggshell
I love the simplicity and flattering lines found in The Scarlet Dress. She's your new year-round favorite: the perfect piece to see you through the colder months (worth with a trench) to lighter seasons (paired with a blazer or button-down).
The Eva Skirt & The Selene Top | Sky Gingham
These pieces were made from organic cotton, which was grown without the use of toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Christy Dawn’s use of organic cotton helps them bridge the gap between their roots in dead-stock fabrics and their vision for the future as they grow their own regenerative farm acreage.
The Amalia Dress | Cream Garden
Grown on CD’s farm in Erode, India in partnership with the farmers and artisans of Oshadi Collective, the cotton in this piece was grown using ancient practices of regeneration. Healing the soil through regenerative farming is proven to reverse climate change through carbon sequestration — since their Farm-to-Closet initiative began, we have sequestered 400 Tons of carbon. The brand produces their garments in Los Angeles and India, where they are working toward creating a fully regenerative fiber shed.
The Emma Dress | Blue Calendula
The Emma Dress is a work of artful intention. With vintage-inspired trim, a fitted silhouette, shoulder ties for easy adjustment and elastic smocking for comfort and ease, she’s sure to become a closet staple: an effortlessly elegant piece for every day. Regeneratively grown.
The Dawn Dress | Golden Pollinator
The brand’s namesake dress was the first piece Christy ever designed, and she's still a dreamy and timeless choice. The Golden Pollinator Garden fabric was digitally printed in Erode, India. The Dawn Dress was made by Araseli, one of their talented dressmakers.
The Elodie Dress | Night Waffle
With her square neckline, delicate ruffles, and three-quarter sleeves, Elodie is reminiscent of a timeless Victorian frock. Pair her with one of CD’s Flora Slips or wear her alone for a sheer, lightweight piece, perfect for warmer months.
The Nicks Dress | Carnelian Aster Garden
Named after Christy’s favorite singer, the Nicks Dress is a dream. Her layered skirt features a ruffled hem and a double shoulder strap is perfect for warmer weather. Her button front and V-neck bodice are reminiscent of a classic '40s silhouette, but she's been updated to feel fresh and timeless. The Carnelian Aster Garden fabric was screen printed in Erode, India.
