Billie's Razors: A Review
The best razor + shave cream combo I’ve ever tried
The best razor + shave cream combo I’ve ever tried
Please consider the following my ode to Billie’s shave cream and razor: I’m not being dramatic when I say that Billie is the best shaving brand that has ever graced my skin. While I am indeed the demo for millennial cult-favorite brands, this one really hits. I remember growing up and shaving with those pink plastic razors that came in a big bag from the grocery store: (hi, I’ll just be climate-offsetting my childhood plastic waste forever, thanks) and I consistently had the worst razor burn: I was always getting cuts, bumps and redness— not a great time for a middle-schooler like myself.
I eventually began investing in nicer, more expensive razors (that still had unhealthy ingredients in their smooth shave strips, unbeknownst to me) which improved the situation a little bit, but it was still not great ideal to the fact that letting fragrances and other chemicals into my vulnerable skin was still allowing for irritation and redness.
It was one day in high school that I discovered aerosol-foaming shaving cream. (This is an issue for a number of reasons, mainly that aerosol sprays can often in Benzene.) This was better than before, but I’d usually end up with razor burn anyway— I’d later learn that this was likely due to vast number of chemicals in shaving creams via the fragrance: a key ingredient that can hide up to 4,000 chemicals under the pretense of being a company-patented scent that doesn’t need to be disclosed.
“The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) lists 3,059 materials that are reported as being used in fragrance compounds. Of these 3,059 ingredients, some have evidence linking them to health effects including cancer, reproductive toxicity, allergies and sensitivities.” - Safe Cosmetics
The razor paired with the shave cream simply allows for the softest shave I can imagine. No razor bumps, ever. It’s a completely natural product with no synthetic fragrance or alarming ingredients. Their shave soap strip is the only razor with charcoal and aloe in it: this is a great natural choice that keeps toxins out of your freshly shaved skin and open pores. Billie is also EWG Verified and most of their packaging is recyclable: I just rinse out the shave cream bottle once it’s gone and it’s good to go or able to be repurposed. I’m auto-subscribed to the razor blades and shave cream: I get the shave cream every two months and the razor blades every month.

That was long-winded: thanks for sticking with me. Also: don’t sleep on Billie’s body lotion, dry shampoo or tinted chapsticks. You can also choose between a number of travel sets and starter kits.
