Structured staples for your Autumnal wardrobe and beyond
Structured staples for your Autumnal wardrobe and beyond
As you may have noticed by now, I’m big on carrying all elements of my wardrobe over from season to season whenever it’s possible: I love light jackets for layering year-round and I’m happy to invest in pieces I’ll be wearing not only several seasons a year— but for as long as I possibly can. The higher the quality of the fabric and the more structured the piece, the more life I’ll ultimately get out of the item.
After my first winter in Los Angeles this past year, I found that it also feels fun to have a couple of pieces dedicated to chillier nights that remain different from my all-year wardrobe, starting with something unique like the deadstock vintage-inspired jacket below. Dressing for fall and winter has always been my favorite, so I really enjoyed putting this roundup together— I hope you love these sustainably and ethically made jackets and consider adding one to your closet.
Reformation Deadstock Fitzroy Jacket, $278
A vegan alternative to a fur jacket, this formal cropped coat from Reformation is made of deadstock fabric (a material that otherwise would have gone to waste).
DÔEN Carmel Jacket, $298
Made in the USA of 100% cotton canvas, the Carmel Jacket from DÔEN is the perfect easy transitional throw-over style, perfect for layering with sweaters on chilly evenings, or hanging over your shoulders as an effortless accessory. Three patch pockets complete the look, with two at the bottom and one at the top left, plus a bonus hidden inner pocket to tuck treasures away. Crafted in a Bureau Veritas Audited factory.
Christy Dawn Palmer Jacket, $398
The perfect pair with the brand’s matching Ava Pant, the Palmer Jacket brings a feminine twist to a classic, vintage design. Featuring a button front closure, patch pockets and a button and tab waistband for a more fitted look, you can wear her as a set or mix and match with your personal favorites. Crafted of 100% organic cotton and yarn dyed with organic dyes.
LACAUSA Cassidy Jacket, $175
This 100% cotton jacket is LACAUSA’s updated spin on a classic workwear jacket, made from garment-dyed bull denim. Each jacket is unique due to the mineral wash technique used in the dying process.
Reformation Regent Jacket, $298
This heavyweight jacket from Reformation is made of 70% recycled wool and 30% polyamide. Learn more about the brand’s sustainability efforts here.
Christy Dawn Lou Lou Jacket, $398
Inspired by a well-worn liner jacket, the Lou Lou Jacket is equally cozy as it is timeless. Quilted and garment-washed for added flexibility, she’s soft, cozy, and best of all: reversible. Choose between vintage stripes and a sweet Autumn-inspired floral print. The jacket was crafted from the brand’s up-cycled organic cotton from previous seasons.
Everlane Gathered Drape Trench, $218
This classic trench features storm flaps, gathered detail at the shoulders, and a high back slit. Wear it with the included belt for a more fitted look or alone for a loose A-line silhouette. Made of lyocell and cotton in an audited factory. Learn more here.
Frank and Oak Lykke Puffer Coat, $399
Made from recycled polyester, this oversized coat from Frank and Oak features a wind and water-resistant, durable Water Repellent (80/5) coating. It’s insulated with Thermore® Ecodown®, a vegan fibre that outperforms down feathers. It also includes a recycled polyester lining and integrated carrying straps to wear the coat as a backpack while indoors.
Madewell Hiking Crop Jacket, $69
This breathable jacket is made from recycled nylon, complete with UPF 40+ sun protection. It’s designed for outdoor activities: air drying quickly and featuring an adjustable drawstring waist, a secure zip pocket, and interior backpack straps so you can slip it off whenever.
