An edit of tanks and blouses to elevate your summer wardrobe
As I settle into my third summer in LA, I’m still sorting through the gaps in my warm-weather wardrobe. I often fall into the routine of wearing a simple baby tee or tank most days from June through September—but I’ve found myself wanting to bring a bit more visual interest into this part of my closet (since I can’t be layering and like to skip out on heavier jewelry pieces when it’s 90ºF every day.) I’ve spent the last several weeks building a list and purchasing a few pieces, starting with this gorgeous top (above) by Allina Liu—and see another great option from the brand here. Hoping this helps you bring some elegant and unique staples into your lineup: read on to see what else I’ve been eyeing.
Permanent Vacation Eternal Baby Tee, $110
Permanent Vacation brings a unique element into this cropped black tee: the sinching is so flattering and frilly. Dress it up with a sheer skirt and block heels or dress it down with boxer shorts and ballet flats. Or opt for the same top in baby blue.
KKCO Gala Tank, $145
This pastel green tank feels special and offers a lot of thoughtful details—a bit more inspiring to reach for than a plain ribbed tank. See the same top in chocolate brown.
Reformation Minna Linen Top, $168
This 100% linen top is so playful and easily dressed up or down—you can also pick it up in baby blue.
Ella Mae Butterfly Blouse, $165
Available in coffee, black, and lily white, this flouncy top has a ballet-adjacent/Sandy Liang feel to it that I love. Thinking I’ll pick up the black colorway soon!
Sage the Label Tie Front Top, $59
This cotton tank looks lovely on its own, another perfect piece for an especially hot day: also adorable for layering later in the year.
Smocked Tie-Shoulder Top in Organic Cotton, $50
Loving this simple cotton crop top, ideal for pairing with a lightweight linen button-up for a day by the water. See the matching skirt and top.
Deiji Studios Tie-Front Set, $186
Deiji Studios' sets are ideal for relaxed mornings at home, evenings out, and days at the beach. This set is made from lightweight stonewashed French linen and includes a top with bow ties at the front and loose shorts with an elasticated waistband. There are an endless number of directions to take this set: pair the top with a mini skirt and strappy red kitten heels, wear the shorts with a button-down and knee-high boots or Mary Janes and a sheer long sleeve.
Darling Bloom Strappy Top, $75
This sinched top comes in navy and flower stem green: both versatile options for year-round wear. Pair it with the matching skirt or a straight-leg jean for an effortless evening look.
Geel Layla Tank, $82
This lightweight, asymmetrical tank top from Geel features a faux-wrap bodice and delicate tie that can be worn in the front or back.
Lisa Says Gah Petra Blouse, $128
This sheer organza blouse is reversible, making it all the more versatile. Pair it with a dainty bralette and simple skirt and you’re on your way.
J. Crew Squareneck Cap-Sleeve Top, $39
Reach for this flattering cap-sleeve top, available in five colors, though the red is speaking to me. This is crafted from a stretch cotton-blend fabric, which is lightweight and breathable while stretching in all directions for a streamlined fit and feel.
Andine Lulu Crop Tank, $98
This delicate tank is a sweet summer staple: pairs well with literally anything—an effortless choice when you don’t feel like making one!
KKco Pierced Coquina Kerchief, $110
Love this scarf-as-top and top-as-scarf moment from Kkco—you can also explore Etsy for vintage scarfs to pick up something unique to you.
Geel Eliza Top, $87
An adjustable front panel adds some playful versatility to this cotton tank, complete with mini d-rings and organic cotton twill tapes.
