Linens, lights & natural scents for home

Now that I’m almost fully settled into my apartment since moving this past spring, I thought I’d share a selection of items that make the place feel like home: lots of pieces that I’ve taken from space to space over the years as well as newer additions that keep things feeling cozy and refreshing, plus a few items I’ve had my eye on. Vitruvi Stone Diffuser | Code SAMLANDRETH for 20% off

I’ve been using diffusers and essential oils from Vitruvi for a little over three years now- their natural scents and beautiful ceramic diffusers are still my favorite to keep around. I have both the white and grey colorways and think that they look so timeless and naturally integrate into whatever space they’re in. More recently, Vitruvi has introduced pastel colors as well as cordless and long-lasting diffuser options.

Mood Lighting from Gantri | Code LANDRETH20 for $20 off

Mood lighting with dimming switches might be the most crucial part of a warm and comforting room- when we moved in, we replaced the track lighting with lantern lights and we keep two lights from Gantri in the living area, as well as some in our offices and bedroom. They’re beautifully designed, offer such unique shapes and the quality is excellent.

Linen Throw Pillows from Cultiver

Now that we finally have a sofa, we’ve been searching for the perfect throw pillows: I love these from Cultiver which are made from 100% European flax and are OEKO-TEX® certified. They offer over a dozen soothing colorways, making it easy to find a pair that fits well with your space.

Plants and fresh flowers

Living in Portland for five plus years, constantly moving and traveling around didn’t create the most ideal environment for plants to thrive. At the new place in L.A., there’s reliable lighting year round and I have a consistent-enough schedule to take care of plants, which I’m quite excited about!

Alpaca Throw & Other Blankets from Parachute

I love Parachute’s pillows, blankets, robes and linens in general: they offer beautiful, neutral colors and plush materials without sacrificing sustainability.

Storage Bins from Open Spaces

I’ve slowly collected a number of these storage bins in all sizes: they’re ideal for hiding remotes in the living room, skincare in the bathroom, desk objects like tape and cords, and cleaning supplies under the sink. I mainly use these where they can be seen since they’re very cute and a bit too spendy to just be hidden away.

Story Bookcase from DWR

I’ve had my eye on this bookcase from Design Within Reach, I think it would be a solid addition to anyone’s space: it’s thin enough to fit into most corners, practical for viewing and grabbing books and takes up far less room than a traditional book shelf.

I hope you found some ideas for sustainable pieces to add to your space to make it feel more like home. For more of my favorites, check out Objects.
