Airy, Modular Furniture for a Small Space — with Blu Dot

Vintage Outfit Inspiration on samanthanicole.co

Hello! Hope you’re having a really lovely Tuesday out there.

We’ve recently finished up decorating our bedroom, which we’re very excited about. We wanted to find the most ideal, timeless pieces to create a calm and stress-free atmosphere, so selecting and planning out what we’d like long-term was important in the process.

All of the pieces I’ll be sharing are from Blu Dot, which has recently opened a brand new a storefront in Portland. (Yes!) If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, I’m thrilled to be able to introduce it to you:

Blu Dot’s been around since the late nineties, founded by a couple of designers. Their theme through and through has been to control the entire production process — from product development to customer experience. Everything they make is designed in their Minneapolis studio.

I really appreciate and resonate with their principles that pair impeccable design and timelessness with high quality durability for long term use.

I’ve loved styling our space with their pieces: let’s get into the details —

First up, we’ve got the Swole Small Table and boy, is it cute. We went with the white colorway, figuring it would match the most on a long term basis and would always be easy on the eyes (and whatever space it ends up in).

I love how versatile and modular the shape of this is — it would look amazing as an end table next to a couch or in a small entryway, as well.

Next, we’ve got the Modern Beau Table Lamp in the color, Sweetness. It looks/feels/actually is so soft, smooth and visually appealing. It has three levels of dimming and a small touch button on the front, as well as a cloth-covered cord. It’s unbelievably substantial and I can’t see myself ever needing (or wanting) to replace it. I’ve paired it with a more modern catch-all dish in the same color family and a vintage alarm clock: the marble base contrasts these other materials nicely.

Lastly, we have the (queen) Lid Storage Bed — yes, you read that right. Just when you think this piece can’t get any better, it does.

After spending a lifetime with raised bed frames adequate for storing whatever I needed underneath, this is a much more visually enjoyable solution. Walking into a room and seeing plastic boxes under the bed is never a vibe, so having this gorgeous cloth-covered frame that doesn’t allude to any storage at first glance is so ideal.

This bed offers a very perfect place to store all of the sweaters that were otherwise unorganized in a wicker basket, previously. And also everything that I used to store under the couch. I’m focusing on getting organized all month long and this has been so helpful.

All in all, incredibly pleased with how the space has come together! Hope this provides some interior inspo and encourages you to seek out good quality, long term pieces with character.

Make sure to stop into Blu Dot’s new location here in Portland and spend some time in their gorgeous space! They’ll also be hosting an opening party Jan. 30th with a Design Lecture starting at 6:30p. All are welcome!
