My weekly batch of juice that (doesn’t!) taste like vegetables

The Vitamix A2500 is easily my favorite kitchen purchase in the last several years: it blends and heats soups, makes ice cream and sorbets, juices and smoothies, and is great for blending salad dressings and making whipped cream. This particular blender self-cleans: you add a drop of dish soap in with water and blend on high for 30 seconds to a minute and all it needs is a rinse, afterward. This makes it very enticing to use, knowing that it won’t have to soak or take ten minutes of scrubbing to get oil or other difficult-to-remove substances off the sides.

Anyway! Here’s my weekly green juice recipe: this makes a huge batch that lasts several days. It’s so refreshing and takes just a few minutes to throw together.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large bunch of flat-leaf parsley, sliced in half

  • 1 cup roughly chopped celery

  • 2 large blood oranges, peel removed

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • Juice of 2 limes

  • 1 Tbsp minced ginger

  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Supplements of choice: I like MoonJuice and Wooden Spoon Herbs

  • 1-2 cups distilled water (start smaller + add more as you go if needed)

Directions:

  • Start by adding water to your blender, following with supplements and powders if you choose to add them. Next, add the vanilla extract, lemon, lime, and/or blood orange juice, then parsley, ginger, oranges and celery.

  • Gradually raise the speed of the blender until it reaches the highest speed and blend for about a minute.

  • Serve immediately or store in the fridge for 4-5 days. Enjoy!
