Chiang Mai, Thailand
Coffee, cooking and other favorites from Thailand
Coffee, a cooking class and other favorites from Thailand
Back in May of last year, I was on a trip to Cuba and on that trip I told my friend Kyle that I wanted to go to Thailand in late 2017 or early 2018. He was excited about the idea and when we got back from Cuba we made a group text and started talking through the details.
Later on, our friend Caleb invited us to South America with him but we were originally planning on Thailand in October, and that's when he was going to Ecuador so we didn't think we could do both, so we added him to the Thailand group text in case something ended up working out.
A couple months later, we found $380 round trip tickets to Bangkok, so we booked them! We decided to spend five days in Chiang Mai and five days in Krabi. (Chiang Mai is in the city/mountains and Krabi is on the coast.)
If you ever get the chance to visit Chiang Mai, please go! The city had some of the best coffee we’ve ever had: all of the shops there are gorgeous, so unique and they’re making drinks that we haven’t seen anyone in the US doing yet. The culture is incredible all around, plus it's super walkable and affordable for tourists.
Kyle put together this amazing map of all of our favorite spots in the city and places that looked neat that were recommended to us.
A major highlight of the trip was a cooking class at Zabb E Lee! Our host Art was a gem and made the day so memorable, and we all agreed that the pad thai we made there topped all other pad thais.
I hope that you enjoyed this post and that you’re able to find a few things to do in Chiang Mai if you’re ever over that way. See photos and recommendations from Krabi.
