Guide to A Week in Amsterdam
Coffee, dining & sightseeing in the NETHERLANDS
Coffee, dining & sightseeing in the NETHERLANDS
Last week, Nick and I made it home from a week-long trip to The Netherlands for his birthday! Highlights were: amazing food, amazing coffee and some excellent window shopping.
To start, here is a map of all of our favorite places from the trip.
Some key things to note from the Amsterdam map:
01 — Blue Amsterdam was amazing for the view, but the food was pricey and not the best: if you want to go for the view, definitely get a tea or smoothie so you can hang out for a bit.
02 — Sinne was a Michelin Star, 4-course meal (with the option of adding more courses and wine pairings) and came out to about $100 for two people. Honestly, a deal. It was an awesome experience and the food was incredible. We like to check out one Michelin Star spot on our trips together, so be ready to spend a bit more if you head there.
03 — Pllek was really fun. You take a free ferry to get there and order food at picnic tables out near the water: definitely make this spot a priority!
04 — Lavinia Good Food had such a solid breakfast: A+ avo toast, matcha lattes and breakfast pizza. Really cute café, as well.
05 — Do a boat tour with Those Dam Boat Guys. It came out to about $30 a person for a 2-hour boat tour on the canals. It was just a small group of people with the most personable tour guide. You bring your own snacks, drinks, and whatever else: we did our tour at sunset and it was seriously a fairytale evening that I hope everyone has a chance to experience.
06 — CT Coffee & Coconuts was fairly hyped up place by tourists, and was cute on the inside but was fairly expensive food that's was just all right. Would recommend it for a smoothie or tea and if you want somewhere cute to hang out or shoot inside, but didn't love our food!
07 — Omelegg was a really well-rated breakfast in Amsterdam, but we had a pretty unpleasant experience there overall: dry and flavorless eggs, watery coffee, etc. :( our meal ended up being around $50 which wasn’t ideal. I do still want to share about our less-than-pleasant experiences so you don’t think we only find glowing gems in every city. :)
08 — La Perla was the best pizza spot! If you like Neapolitan style pizzas, make sure to go here. It’s in the cutest, most quaint part of the city, at such a sweet corner restaurant. The pizza was seriously so good.
09 — Scandinavian Embassy was the cream of the crop, most amazing coffee and pastries! We came here once every day.
I hope you find these tips helpful and that you get a chance to visit some of the places on our map! x
