A Weekend Guide to Vancouver, BC
Where to stay, what to eat, drink and do
Where to stay, what to eat, drink and do
It’s always a treat to experience a new food and coffee scene: this past week, we got to do just that in Vancouver, Canada. Very thankful for friends that shared their best recommendations with us so we had a lay of the land before we got there! Here’s where we went and loved for food, coffee and thrifting:
Stay
The Burrard Hotel is a remodeled 1950’s motor lodge full of color right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. You can use code "SAMANTHA" for 15% off your booking.
Breakfast and Coffee
Nelson & The Seagull was a dream: it felt so much like cafe´s in Amsterdam did! (i.e. cozy atmosphere, black and white tile everywhere, really delicious toast.) Highly recommend this spot for breakfast or brunch.
Nemesis Coffee
Excellent coffee, friendliest staff, more amazing toast. If we lived in the area this would definitely be our work spot.
Propaganda Coffee
This shop was quite lovely: we had an excellent pour-over and a matcha. There was lots of natural light and space to sit, making it a solid place to hang out for a couple of hours and get some work done.
Le Marché St. George
Okay, hear me out… the crepe I had at Le Marché St. George was better than any crepe I had in France last year. It was perfectly soft, buttery and melted in my mouth: I also had a london fog, both I hope you don’t miss if you find yourself in Vancouver.
Dinner and Drinks: La Mezcaleria
We went to La Mezcaleria for dinner our first night and had ahi tacos, chips, guac and salsa. It was pretty dark inside, so I didn’t grab any photos, but I didn’t want to miss mentioning it!
Other honorable mentions
Meet in Gastown
This was an awesome vegan spot: we had a burger, fries and vegan chicken wings. All around, would definitely go back.
Soft Peaks Ice Cream
Soft serve with all kinds of flavor and topping combos. I got a swirl soft serve with corn flakes and strawberries and hot fudge!
Oyster Bar
If you're a seafood or oyster fan, try to make your way to an oyster bar here! Everything's so fresh being so close to the ocean.
I can't wait to come back one day and get a chance to see the natural side of Canada: Banff, Jasper and Whistler are high up on my list!
