Eco-friendly, renewable and ethically made intimates

Parade Pastel Underwear.png

We’ve pulled together a list of size-inclusive, sustainably and ethically made intimates to fit all budgets and bodies. We’ve attempted to source almost all organic options, and will note when specific brands are not organic.

Organic Basics | Sizing: XS-XL

Organic Basics puts sustainable thinking at the center of everything — that means they only choose fabrics that care for the environment and they only partner with factories that care about their impact, too. The brand designs everything to last: that means investing in quality fabrics and workmanship and designing with simplicity and function in mind.

Pansy | Sizing: XS-XXXL

Pansy is an organic cotton underwear company born from a need for comfy, dreamy and ethical undies, their organic cotton is grown and milled domestically and their underwear are designed and sewn locally in California since 2013.

Parade | Sizing: XS-3XL

CEO of Parade, Cami, grew up going to the mall, seeing supermodels blown up on storefronts and thinking: this is what it means to be sexy. For too long, underwear has been about restricting us to a flat pink surface, but now we know that’s just one glint in the sea of self-expression. Parade believes that sexiness isn’t one-dimensional—it’s a voice, it’s a feeling, it’s a technicolor mirror that reflects whoever is holding it. Parade underwear is soft, breathable, and made of recycled fabrics (they’re Oeko-Tex certified, meaning they’re free from harmful chemicals that pollute your skin and our waters.) that are good for your body and the environment. The brand donates 1% of profits to Planned Parenthood and their packaging is compostable and made of 100% corn starch.

Allbirds | Sizing: XS-XL

Allbirds’ undergarments are crafted with natural and renewable materials materials (Trino™ fabric) and offers breathable fit that supports your everyday life.

Thought | Sizing: XS-XL

With sustainability as a core value, Thought recognises their responsibilities towards the environment, eco systems and local communities. The brand’s suppliers and their supply chains must commit to their Environmental Policy. Their underwear are made from 95% organic cotton in a GOTS certified, family run and owned factory.

Proclaim | Sizing: Small-3x

Proclaim is an inclusive nude lingerie line made in Los Angeles from Earth-conscious fabrics. The brand is founded on the principles that fashion should represent all women and can be made in a way that does good for people and planet. Proclaim is expanding the definition of “nude,” one ethically-made bra at a time.

Brook There | Sizing: XS-XXL

From day one, ethics and sustainability have been at the heart of Brook There’s business model. The brand chooses low-impact fabrics and production methods whenever possible, and keeps their factory close to home so they can get to know the people who sew their garments by name. Their fabrics are organic and products are made in the US.

Naja | Sizing: XS-2Xl

Naja is an eco-friendly, socially conscious underwear brand for empowered women. They’re proudly vegan, and each product is made by single mothers and female heads of households. They pay above-market wages, provide health benefits and support children’s education.

Cuup | Sizing: 30A-38H and xs-xxl

CUUP is on a mission to redefine the way women look and feel in their underwear. The brand was created to challenge antiquated standards with elegantly engineered solutions. They threw out a century-old sizing system and made measurements on real bodies and challenged the notion that sensuality is anything other than a self-defined state of being. We note that CUUP does not mention sustainability or ethical production on their website, but recognize that oftentimes there are not enough sustainable options for all sizes. We do hope that the brand will commit to these values in the future. *Not organic.

Warp + Weft | Sizing: oo-24 and s-xl

Warp + Weft carries bikini-style underwear as well as a boxer brief style. They use a Modal/Spandex blend which is lightweight, durable and resistant to pilling. The blend is made from cellulose reconstituted from beech trees and is naturally breathable and 50% more absorbent than cotton. *Not organic.

Knickey | Sizing: xs-xl

Read our previous coverage of Knickey here. While most OBGYNs tout natural fibers for your nethers, Knickey has gone above and beyond with a certified organic fabric, guaranteed free from harmful toxins. Unlike most undergarment manufacturers, they know that cancer-causing substances have no business up in your business. All Knickey undies are crafted in the coolest certified organic cotton. Plus, they’re made sustainably in India in a Fair Trade Certified factory.

Tomboy X | Sizing: xs-4x

The majority of Tomboy X’s cotton underwear and swimwear pieces are Oeko-tex 100 certified (a highly-regarded international standard for non-toxic fabrics.) Additionally, the process that gives their activewear it's quick-dry, antimicrobial and moisture-wicking properties uses crab and shrimp shells instead of finishing with synthetic chemicals. Their luxury MicroModal fabric is made out of sustainably harvested and processed Beechwood fibers. And their Signature Prints use a water-based, earth-conscious method, recycling water well above the standards required. The brand is always looking for the greenest, cleanest method for everything they make. The brand ensures that their partners pay their workers a living wage, and social justice, LGBTQ issues, and women's rights are the heart of what they do.

People Tree | Sizing: uk 8-16

A pioneer in sustainable Fair Trade fashion, our story started in 1991. The core mission has stayed the same over the past three decades since award-winning social entrepreneur Safia Minney founded the company. Every product is made to the highest ethical and environmental standards from start to finish. Contemporary, versatile designs and playful, exclusive prints inspired by the V&A archives create stylish, innovative and affordable fashion while respecting people and the planet. Collections featuring organic cotton, TENCEL™ Lyocell and responsible wool, are made using traditional artisan skills such as hand weaving, hand knitting, hand embroidery and hand block printing.

Botanica Workshop | Sizing: S-L

Botanica Workshop is a lifestyle brand focusing on underwear and loungewear made of organic and sustainable materials. Established in 2014, their independent design studio was born from a need for responsibly produced intimates with a designer aesthetic and quality to match. They partner with local artisans and technicians to create small production runs of well crafted pieces a few times a year in Los Angeles, CA. The name Botanica Workshop comes from a combination of concepts: “Botanica” represents their ecologically minded use of materials, and “Workshop” represents the experiential nature of designing and producing handcrafted goods.

AIKYOU | Sizing: XS-L

Aikyou’s organic cotton is Fair Trade Certified and thus secures the livelihood of their producers with fair wage and work regulations. The yarn is spun in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. This is also where the fabric is knitted, dyed, and cut before their undies are sewn in Croatia in a Fair Trade Certified workshop. All other materials are manufactured in Germany and Europe in an environmentally and socially compatible way, and to standards of high quality workmanship.
