Self Care & Staying Home
Activities and ideas for home.
Calming things I’ve invested in recently
If you’re anything like me, maybe you’ve been spending some time each day looking for interesting ways to combat the anxiety and uncertainty that’s in the air at the moment.
At a time like this, the best thing we can do is to listen to our bodies, stay home when possible, and attempt to stay as healthy and stress-free as we can. Since stress weakens our immune system, this one is important. As a frequently-stressed person, this has lead me to order a handful of things online and take up some new activities to aid a calmer mindset in the weeks and months to come. Let’s jump in.
01 — Prana Eco Yoga Mat — $27
This yoga mat is made without toxins, inhibits bacterial growth and is fully recyclable. The dark blue color is on sale for a more affordable price than I’ve ever seen, as far as eco mats go. I cancelled all of my previously scheduled Classpass classes for the next couple of weeks and ordered this mat on sale so I could start working out at home. Classpass offers in-app audio and video classes, so I’ve been utilizing these often from my living room. (Side note: CP is rolling over all unused class credits until June 1st, in light of the virus).
02 — True Botanicals Glacial Clay Detox Mask — $65
If I’m going to be inside for several weeks, I decided that in the spirit of keeping the mood light, I’d put on a couple of spa nights for my partner and I. This mask clears away daily impurities like toxins, pollutants and bacteria that can lead to increased breakouts, irritation and dullness. Every ingredient in every product created by True Botanicals is MadeSafe certified, meaning that their products are made without 5,000+ toxic chemicals known to harm human and environmental health.
04 — MoonJuice SUPERYOU Supplement — $49
Upon reading the reviews of this supplement, I decided to give it a go. “SuperYou® is a clinical strength blend of four potent adaptogenic herbs that work together to address the effects of stress on the mind and body. By helping to normalize cortisol levels, SuperYou® helps reduce stress, while enhancing energy, mood, and focus.”
05 — Coloring Book — $4 to $19
Grab an “adult” coloring book, pick up a paint brush, paint on a canvas, start to journal, do something creative that you otherwise wouldn’t have tried. If anything, times of uncertainty offer a chance to explore new and therapeutic creative outlets.
I hope you’ve found solace in one of these ideas, and can implement one into a calming routine in the weeks to come. Be well!
