I spent fifteen minutes or so digging through my camera roll, only to discover that I had all of zero photos from Han Oak despite the number of times I’ve been: this is probably because I’m so engulfed in the experience, having the time of my life. A few years back, they offered an a la carte dinner menu as well as prix fixe menus on holidays and the like, but more recently it’s reopened as a prix-fixe-only hot pot spot. Their newer restaurant, Toki, still offers some of their original staples like the Korean fried chicken wings— in a more casual setting.

Perhaps the most precious thing about Han Oak is that the restaurant was built out in the original living room of chef Peter Cho and partner Sun Young Park’s real life home. I love this video which shows some of their day-to-day moments in the space: half home, half restaurant.

I already can’t wait to revisit the space— and hopefully remember to take a few photos, try out their hot pot offerings, and visit Toki the next time I’m in town!
