Brands selling and donating hand-sanitizers as of April, 2020

Taking part in protecting ourselves and those around us has never been more important. An effective way to do this is to wash your hands (for the full 20 seconds) and sanitize often. Regularly, we’d share our at-home hand sanitizer recipe and recommend making your own, but unless you have access to medical-grade alcohol or isopropanol, you should avoid doing so, as it will likely be ineffective. Here are some options available for purchase that contain the CDC-recommended alcohol content.

By Humankind Refillables

By Humankind recently released this 8oz bottle of alcohol-based sanitizer made to refill the spray bottles you already have at home: each aluminum bottle will refill 4 pocket-size hand sanitizer bottles. $1 of each hand sanitizer sold goes to The Robin Hood Relief Fund — providing emergency support to our neighbors in the nyc area. This sanitizer is made naturally, ethically, and contains the alcohol content recommended by the CDC. Expected to ship on April 30th.

Sigil scent mist

Sigil is offering a limited number of at-cost, custom-blended alcohol hand mists for purchase. Each purchase offers the option to donate $5 to the LA LGBT Center’s food pantry, and/or to pay $5 more to go toward Sigil’s operating costs. Ingredients include: 80% 190-proof Alcohol (organic, lab-certified gluten-free wheat-derived), Distilled water, Essential oils and 3% Hydrogen peroxide solution. Currently available for pre-order.

amass botanic sanitizer

A non-drying alcohol-based hand wash that brings together hydrating aloe with cinnamon, allspice, clove, and eucalyptus, a blend of botanicals inspired by the “four thieves recipe” believed to prevent the spread of the plague in medieval Europe. Complete with notes of Eucalyptus to rejuvenate and replenish the spirit, with Cinnamon and Clove to provide comfort and warmth. This sanitizer has the CDC recommended amount of alcohol.

maak lab

MAAK LAB’s peppermint hand sanitizer set includes both a travel size 2oz bottle and 12oz bottle with pump. Their formulation is ethyl alcohol-based and uses a 65% concentration to abide by the CDC Guidelines for hand hygiene. Produced in Oregon. The addition of glycerin helps keep hands from drying out, and Oregon-grown peppermint essential oil leaves you with a subtle hint of mint after cleansing.

Public Goods

Public Goods’ hand sanitizer keeps you clean and refreshed on the go. The powerful antiseptic properties of ethyl alcohol and glycerin kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria naturally. The brand doesn not use harsh chemicals like triclosan and benzalkonium chloride. Public Goods also sells tree-free toilet paper: set a notification for once it’s back in stock.

Use code SAMPGA for 20% off your order.

Kings County Distillery

Kings County hand sanitizer mixes their raw high proof spirit in a recipe adapted from WHO guidelines and approved by TTB, the agency that regulates alcohol sales in the United States. The brand asks that you limit your purchase to 3 per order. They’re offering a sliding scale payment for the purchase of sanitizers and encouraging customers to buy whiskey as well, so they can continue to manufacture sanitizer.

Donate a Mask and Hand Sanitizer Kit

Via RazeAwareness, all donations will be made through DonatePPE.org. For $7.95, each kit includes a KN95 mask and 2oz hand sanitizer. The masks are FDA and CE approved, and have a filter performance of 95%.
