Non-toxic & ethically sourced kitchenwares to last you the long haul

Today, we’re sharing a number of beautifully-designed, non-toxic, sustainably sourced and ethically made cookware options— there are some great brands carrying essentials ranging from pots, pans and dutch ovens to tabletop essentials like plates, bowls, glassware and linens. Read on to see what the following kitchen brands offer.

Our Place

Our Place’s mission is founded in the idea that there is a transformative power in uplifting the differences in how people cook and eat together. They invest in ethical labor and responsibly-sourced materials, and they partner with Hank's Mini Market: a locally-owned neighborhood market bringing fresh, healthy food to South LA. They offer their versatile Always Pan (recently relaunched with Thermakind™ — their exclusive, most advanced, 50% longer lasting ceramic nonstick coating) available in eight colors: it acts as a fry pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, non-stick pan, spatula, and spoon rest. They also carry bundles and sets of plates and bowls, plus kitchen tools.

Equal Parts

Equal Parts offers non-toxic, naturally coated non-stick cookware: made to eliminate soaking and scrubbing to save you time in the cleanup process. They fried 1,095 eggs to see how their coating held up: it stayed as good as new, ensuring it will serve you well for years to come. Their products are multi-functional (suitable for cooking and serving), convenient (they include universal lids), and stackable for streamlined storage. Also available are their BPA-free utensils, chef’s knife or antibacterial cutting board.

MATERIAL

Material carries some recycled and FSC-certified options, and these colorful BPA-free cutting boards are made entirely of kitchen plastic scraps and renewable sugarcane. 50% of profits from To Pó-Po with Love goes to Heart of Dinner

Caraway

Caraway offers non-toxic cookware sets as well as pot holders, oven mitts and aprons. Their pans release up to 60% less CO2 when manufactured compared to traditional non-stick coatings. Caraway also supports BSCI and SMETA manufacturing partners where employees are safe, paid fairly, given benefits, and work hours are regulated. All purchases are shipped in recycled cardboard with zero plastic, low impact print dyes, and 100% biodegradable cork trivets.

Fable

For your serving needs, look to Fable. The brand is dedicated to becoming a zero-waste company, which is why they only partner with makers who put the earth first, using recycled clay and eco-friendly packaging. Also at the forefront of their mission is timeless design: they create their pieces to transcend passing trends so they’ll last for years—not only physically, but aesthetically.

Great Jones | Get 10% off

Great Jones offers colorful PFOA-free, dishwasher-safe cookware. You can compare pieces on their helpful chart (scroll to the bottom of the page,) explore recipes and recycle your old pots once they’re done. Shop sets, cookwares and baking sheets here.

Misen

Misen doesn’t explicitly mention sustainability standards, but they have a strong focus on quality materials meant to last you as long as possible. Each of their products are the result of months of product development: it’s a quest to nail down features and materials that will enhance your cooking experience. Designers, engineers, professional chefs and beginning home cooks all have a hand in assessing each prototype, allowing the brand to chisel away what isn’t needed, and keep the stuff that makes a difference. The result is cookware that delivers “premium” results, at an affordable price.

We hope you found a few new considered kitchen pieces to add to your home cooking lineup. Have a lovely day!
