I just got home from two back-to-back weekend trips: one in Big Bear, and another in Sea Ranch. (More on that soon!) And I’ve really begun to dial in what I like to bring on trips when I’m going to be cooking every meal at the place I’m staying. I wanted to share the list with you here since It’s always tricky to know exactly what tools you’ll end up with wherever you're going, and if you’ve got all of these, you can make just about anything. :)

This is a post you can generally only find on For Dining, which I’m occasionally sharing samples of on the regular Dine section of the site.

Essentials:

• Knife roll

• Microplane

• Bread knife

• Regular knife

• Pairing knife

• Tongs (2 pairs)

• Twisting grater

• Thermapen Thermometer

• Fruit and veggie wash, also love Koala Eco

• Hedley & Bennet Apron

• Spoonula or turner

• Electric spice grinder

• Cooling rack, if applicable to what I’m making

• Round baking dish, if applicable to what I’m making

• Parchment paper

• Cast iron, usually I’ll message the host to see if they have one first, but I generally prefer to use my own whenever possible!
